The X Men

Well hella fooking looja...she's put up a new post at last..!

Yeah, yeah, lots of action in my life babies not a moment to spare. I'm not even going into it all now or I will be here all night typing a long screed. I have just been relaxing and chilling a bit today...a bloody hard earned day off, listening to my favourit beat, parking off, sleeping etc, because on Wednesday it's back to Never Never Land. So like I said, I am sitting here listening to music, tidying up my iPod and suzzing out some old vids on YooToob, not fookn' interested in the South African cluster fuck, or which blubber lipped porch monkey said what to who...so music being a great love, it got me onto the subject of old favourites and the memories they conjure up...ja sweet memories...so long as they are lekker sweet...and spicy can be good too!

In 1980, I was still in high school in Joburg. I lived in the hostel during the week and on weekends I went home to the folks, and on Fridays and Saturday nights I went jolling to DV8 and the Live Wire with my mates from school and my boyfriend, who was in the army in Pretoria and rode a lekker fat 750 Honda. Ja, those were the days...you had to have a boyfriend with wheelies if you wanted to jol anywhere in South Africa, there was no public transport round the clock like here in Europe, and I can say that I never once dated any Jannie on a bicycle I can assure you!

Well anyway, that same year, 1980, that biker boyfriend bought me The Long Run by The Eagles.. oh, I LOVE that album! And to this day it is by far my favourite Eagles album and always reminds me of that boyfriend, he was really cute... (Papa Bear still gets very jealous about him after all these years of being married, and doesn't dig the Eagles!)

Now everyone knows Hotel California, it's a lekker cool number, and I can even jam it on my geet on occasions round the braai fire, but let me tell you, the best ever Eagles number, is one that never made a gold single or anything, and you never hear it played by radio DJ's. But kiddies...it's so cool man, the vocals by Frey, Fedlar and Walsh, lead vocals by Don Fedler are just so...ahhhhhhh....and the lead guitar...ahhhhhh baby....and the solo toward the end...those boys make the guitars cry!

Just give it a listen, tell me if I'm wrong...

I'll be working for a bit, but I've got a sweet new French boss, and he is ever so young and fit and good looking, and we get on like a house on fire, so it ain't no pain Honkeys, I'm having a jol and being paid for it...and get to gawk out my tasty boss all day, be happy for me hee hee hee..!

I'll catch you all soon, keep it tight..
love
Raven

PS don't mind the shit vid, just get into the sounds, it's a guaranteed an eargasm!

I think it's magic the way certain songs bring back specific memories......sometimes fantastic & sometimes not so good :-(
Funny tho' how our menfolk get the nadgers over certain songs, when it relates to another man from way back when! I know exactly what you mean :-)

Yah Raven, you are right, the Hotel California was much more of a hit. Commercialised and really RAUNCHY (mirrors on the ceiling etc) The Long Run sounds more like a song about six months after managing to escape from the hotel: The cocaine has all worn off, the bucks are blown, now reality sets in.
